Thursday around noon we said "see you later" to Lotta and her roosters and drove south.

Driving slowly enjoying the gorgeous countryside stopping for weewee brakes for me and stretches for Mom. We drove until she got tired since she really wanted to get to the Baltic Sea. This is a moose we didn't have to worry about running in the road

The first night we slept at a big parking lot very sandy and dusty, and even if it was pretty lonely there it was ok for one night.

weather still sunny and it has become extremely dry, which shows on the fields which are turning yellow. I feel really sorry for the farmers who don't have artificial watering systems.

We continued our drive very early in the morning before it gets too hot and finally arrived at our destination which was Ale stones.

Before I tell you the amazing story about that, I have to talk about the gorgeous road we're on. It's a small narrow road winding around the rolling hills where fields of wheat and other grains are moving slowly from the breeze. A lot of bright red poppies line the road.

Driving along on a narrow road we spotted a small vegetable stand where we stopped. It was self-serve, take what you want and put the money in the box. Mom bought tomatoes, potatoes and the sweetest most delicious strawberries, none of any interest to me, as everyone knows by now, I prefer shit.

Yes, I am cute, but a shit eater, I like it all and to Moms horror I found sheep shit and dried cowshit a delicacy too. There was plenty of both on our walk to the stones

tones.

This most southern part of Sweden is very different from the rest of the country. It's mostly farmland and the barns are built of bricks and often whitewashed, compare to North where barns mostly are wood and painted red.

Many roofs are made from straw, which is an old craft that unfortunately is dying out

  .

The Ale stones is one of Sweden's most enigmatic sights. Some believe that the 59 stones is a burial monument. Others claim that the stones has served as an ancient astronomical clock , as they are positioned so that the sun goes down at the northwestern stone in summer and rises exactly at the opposite stone in winter.

However, there is a consensus that the stone ship is the largest and best preserved in Sweden. The 59 stones are placed with the formation of a ship and are 67 meters (219feet) long and 19 meters (62feet) wide at its widest point. The monument is believed to be originated from the early Iron Age (500-1000 AD).

One thing is for sure: You can not help but feel amazed at the history when you are standing on the hill 37 meters(121feet) above the roaring Baltic Sea, looking out over the monument. There are so many theories why these stones were placed here over 1,000 years ago. I didn't really feel it but made sure to make my mark by giving most every stone my scent.

The path up the hill was a little strenuous in the heat, and Mom was so proud of me walking along without complaint. The view was breathtaking she said and she stopped often to take it all in. I believe it was to catch her breath and take pictures, but I was on a mission since I caught the scent of sheep poop.

After looking at the stones Mom ordered one of her favourite Swedish dishes fried herring with mashed potato. It was delicious she says. I did get a small taste and I have to admit I've tasted better things............oh like chicken shit? Mom says with the look of disgust on her face.

Mom usually doesn't buy souvenirs on our trips, but she couldn't resist this gorgeous mug. She said it makes her smile? I say we'll see about that tomorrow morning at breakfast, and if she isn't smiling, I will remind her

It's bedtime now, Good Night all, see you later alligator

Today is Swedens National Day and the King Queen and all the princes and princesses are dressed up and waving the flag outside the castle in Stockholm. That's pretty much all there is about that.

Every year we visit with Lotta it has become a tradition to visit Blankaholm Guesthouse and eat potato pancakes with bacon, carrot, and lingonberries. There’s no place on earth that makes them better than here says, Mom and Lotta. I liked them too, they were good but not as good as the bacon.

We drove around the inlet passing several small villages and took a walk through the woods to the beach. The water didn’t look inviting at all, not even for Lotta.

Today Mom moved Lucy to a neighbors yard (to get away from the cock-a-doodle-doo)and a bee farmer showed Mom his bees.

According to Mom, it was very interesting, buzzing bees aren't my thing so  I watched from Lucy.

Mom got to hold the bees while the farmer took out the queen to mark her and cut a little tip off her wing so if she would get the idea to leave the hive she wouldn’t get too far with her gang so the farmer can get them back.

I thought it was pretty brave of Mom to hold a bee on a finger but she knew it was the kind in the gang that didn’t have a stinger, the farmer had told her so

It has been a very interesting day, now it's time for a tinkle and then to bed............

After a lot of difficulties about loading the modem, we're finally having wifi again. Mom tried all morning to figure out what was wrong and finally realized the girl at the store installed the 20 G that Mom paid for on someone else's modem. It took several hours to correct the mistake while I was left alone guarding Lucy.

We are at Lotta's house now and this will be the third night.

As soon as Mom turned on to the country road to Lotta’s house I knew we were almost there. I stood up in my seat looking at all the horses and was super excited to get to the surprise she had promised me, hoping she had bought those delicious rawhide bones Mom never buys because Dr. Grigsby said they’re no good for me.

Lotta wasn’t home when we got there but I found the surprise on my own, it was 2 roosters and 4 chickens. They scattered in all directions when they saw me, so I had to chase them to say hello but they were so stuck up they wanted nothing to do with me.

I quickly lost interest in the chickens when Morris caught my eye. I’m pretty sure he remembers me because he didn’t hiss at me like he used to but he didn’t allow me to get as close to him as I can get to Lilly.

Selma who was a kitten when we first met was pregnant and had run away, maybe she planned to have her babies somewhere else. No one had seen her for two days and everyone was worried about her but all of a sudden she showed up, kittens still in her belly. We don’t know why she ran away but maybe she was looking for the Father to her babies to tell him to take responsibility for his actions, we’ll never know

Although I lost interest in the chickens I quickly discovered they shit everywhere and since I’m a big shit eater and to my Moms horror I quickly munched on a few. That resulted in a bath and my freedom is gone. I’m on lock up and on 24/7 surveillance. Mom says it’s for my own good because chicken poop is very bad for me and her. As a matter of fact, I may have to visit a doctor today since I’m not pooping for the second day and Mom is worried.

I haven’t been eating well either, (according to Mom) but I eat everything in the morning and take my medicine without a problem, but when my evening meal is served I flip the bowl over and refuse it.

I quickly learned to beg for goodies from Lotta and her friend, especially her friend can’t resist me and he pretends he doesn’t hear Mom’s scolding and gives me as many goodies as I want, and Mom doesn’t have the heart to tell him NO

Swedish people do swim in icy lakes all the time and Mom said she used to also, but now when she tries she freezes as soon as her feet get wet which she get teased about a lot. Lotta jumps right in like a polar bear.

The weather is still amazingly wonderful, sunny and no rain in sight, which many now are asking for, The grounds are dry and there’s a huge fire hazard everywhere. Temperature drops considerably at night which is great when it’s time to sleep. I wish the roosters would sleep in, yesterday morning they started crowing at 4 AM and never stopped. Mom said she was ready to kill, but instead she had a serious talk to the rooster at bedtime, and this morning he kept quiet until 7AM which is ok we think.

These bird poops everywhere and my coat was getting pretty gross, so Mom threatens me for not being allowed in her bed unless I have a bath. I contemplated sleeping under the table but after a second thought I gave in to the bath.

The bath water was freezing ...................it's not easy to be Moms dog all the time

The dryer made me warm very quickly and I sure slept well cozy up in the big bed.

The temperature here is now in the eighties during the day and only 50 at night.............

All is well,

Good Night all

The backup camera is in place and Mom is really happy about it and the help she got was invaluable because it was no way she could do that herself. Can't really call it wireless when there were cables and drilling involved, but if you think about it, the camera needs to get a signal when Lucy is in reverse, which means wire connected to the backup light

It’s done and it works wonderful, many thanks to the lady who lent me her husband for a few hours.

We left in the afternoon before the dance started, and I was pleased not having to listen to a lot of noise.

I thought we were going to be at Lotta’s house today but Mom got too tired so we had to pull over and sleep.

Sweden has never ever been this hot for so many weeks in a row, and it's all people talk about. It has been in the 80ies every day and since Lucy does not have AC it becomes pretty tiring. Mom bought me a small table fan that connects to the cigarette lighter, and it helps a little. Mom tells me it's cooler in the back on the floor, but I prefer to ride shotgun so I know what's going on. We're staying by a lake

There's a cat living here too but not a very nice one. He/She follows me around and every time I stop to smell the flowers He/She sits down to stare and hiss .....I do miss Lilly

As soon as the sun goes down at 10 pm, it cools down considerably and that's a blessing so we can sleep. Of course, the new ceiling fan helps a lot too.

This is the sky at 10 pm

I think there's always ducks at lakes so I have seen them so many times I find them completely uninteresting. Mom thinks the babies are so cute so she just HAVE to feed them.

time to turn in Good Night

Yesterday we said goodbye to Ove, Elvy, and Helge and drove south a couple of hours to meet up with a gentleman that offer Mom help with the backup camera she bought.

The ad of the camera said it was cordless so Mom thought she could just slap it on and it’ll work but after reading instruction it turned out to be a lot more involved, like drilling and wires for a sender and other stuff Mom doesn’t understand. Here's the first casualty for the season.

We met up with this gang of super-gigantic buses which was remodeled for luxury living. Our Lucy looked like a little ant in this company.

We are parked on a field next to a big barn that once housed several hundred cows, but since having a milk farm aren’t very lucrative anymore these smart farmers made the barn into a dance palace, so every weekend people show up to listen to their favorite band and many do line dancing. Last week it was a Pink Floyd cover band. Too bad we weren’t here than Mom says. I say I’m glad not having to listen to so much loud noise.

Early morning we went for a walk exploring and a very friendly cat came and made figure eights around Moms legs and purred very loud. He was bigger than I so I kept my distance and the cat respected that.

A lady in the barn saddled her horse and went for a ride, and as Mom watched she was dreaming about doing the same, but from experience she knows she's unable to do so. Se’s afraid of heights hahaha

I got a whiff of those delicious meatballs that horses make, but unable to get a taste since Mom watched me like a hawk.

This place is so idyllic now, but I have a feeling it’ll get much louder tonight, so I hope Mom drive away before the band shows up.

At the moment the camera is being installed and I got locked up in my carriage because the drilling terrified me.

Mom thinks this man is amazing who so kindly offered to help a complete stranger. I licked his leg for a long long time to let him know I appreciated it too.

That's all, for now, folks........................love Buttons
